Victorian Rockingham Glaze Stoneware Pitcher

A handsome Victorian stoneware pitcher finished in a rich Rockingham brown glaze. The body features an ornate molded medallion with a classical profile portrait surrounded by scrolling decorative relief.
The glossy glaze pools beautifully around the raised decoration, creating depth and variation in tone. A molded handle with thumb rest and softly flared spout complete the traditional pitcher form.
Rockingham-glazed stoneware was widely produced in American potteries during the mid to late 19th century and remains beloved today for its warm color and historic charm.
